EAUN23 Awards: Celebrating excellence in urology care
The 23rd International EAUN Meeting (Milan, 11-13 March, 2023) proved to be a splendid occasion, featuring not only a comprehensive scientific programme, but a time to acknowledge some of the diligent and exceptional individuals who have made valuable contributions to urological care in Europe, and beyond. The official Award Session took place on the last day of EAUN23, and was led by Mrs. Paula Allchorne, EAUN Chair.
Mrs. Jeannette Verkerk-Geelhoed (NL) was presented with a ‘Distinguished Service Award’ in appreciation of her devoted time and dedication to the EAUN and its members. Mrs. Verkerk-Geelhoed is an outgoing Board Member (2016-2023) and Chair of the EAUN Scientific Congress Office (2019-2023).
The prize for the Best EAUN Nursing Research Project Presentation was awarded to Assist. Prof. Giulia Villa (IT) for her work, “Female urge urinary incontinence in an Italian tertiary referral university and research hospital: A prevalence study”.
Prizes were also presented for the Best Poster competition in the science-oriented and practice development-oriented sections. Mrs. Claire Cassells (UK) received first prize for the Best Science-oriented Poster Presentation with the poster, “Maximising sexual wellbeing / cancer care e-learning resource: Healthcare professionals’ views on acceptability, utility and recommendations for implementation.”
First prize for the Best Practice development-oriented Poster Presentation was received by Mrs. Claudia Oliveira (GB) with the poster: “Prediction of missed clinically significant prostate cancer after adoption of new prostate specific antigen (in mcg/L) referral guidelines.”
Second prize went to Ms. Rachael Dalton (IE) with the poster: “Establishing a journal and research club to support urology nursing research culture.”
The practice development-oriented poster prizes were kindly sponsored by Hollister and handed over by their representative Mr. R. Zonderland.
